Frewsburg/Falconer/Jamestown/Southwestern Swimmers Set Records In Prelims

ITHACA — The swimmers from the Frewsburg/Falconer/Jamestown/Southwestern boys team turned in impressive performances Friday at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Federation Championships at Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium on the campus of Ithaca College.

How impressive?

Competing in the preliminaries of the two-day event, the Bears are seeded first heading into today’s finals in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.00) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:08.00), and are seeded second — behind swimmers from Catholic schools — courtesy of Conner Dean’s 200-yard individual medley effort (1:49.25) and the 200-yard medley relay’s performance (1:32.39).

Joining Dean in all three relays were Landon Frederes, and Miles and Grady Moore.

Of note, the 200-yard medley relay time eclipsed the NYSPHSAA record of 1:33.42, set by Half Hollow Hills in 2017.

In other individual preliminary results from the local team, Miles Moore is seeded first in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal-best 20.8; Grady Moore is seeded 17th in the 100-yard butterfly after turning in a personal-best 52.19; and Frederes is seeded 33rd in the 100-yard backstroke after posting a time of 54.06.

The finals begin today at 10 a.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
