GLADIATORS TRAVEL BASEBALL

12U

The 12U Southwestern Gladiators defeated North Tonawanda 3-1, and lost games to Lakeview 9-1 and to the New York Stingers 3-2.

In the win over North Tonawanda, Austin Bushey had a double and an RBI, Bennett Larson had a single and an RBI, Gage Olmsted had two singles, Nolan Truver had a single and Ryan Burnett had an RBI. Evan Lescynski, Ethan Smrekar, Olmsted and Burnett combined for eight strikeouts.

In the loss to Lakeview, Alexander Olson and Burnett each had a single. Bushey, Smrekar, and Olmsted had five total strikeouts from the mound.

In the loss to the Stingers, Smrekar had two singles, Olmsted and Burnett each had a single and Larson had an RBI. Lescynski, Smrekar and Olmsted pitched and combined for three strikeouts.

Gavin Darr drove in four runs on two hits to lead Lakewood Gladiators 14U past WNY Prospects 14U 13-3 last Wednesday.

The Gladiators got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Darr drew a walk, scoring one run. Drake Beckstrom drew another walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Cole Fitzgerald singled in two runs, and Ryan Engquist lined out for another run.

Broc Bryan earned the win for the Gladiators. The righty surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Karson Milne pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief, giving up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Darr and Bryan each collected two hits for the Gladiators. Lakewood had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game with Milne and Wilson Genareo leading the team with two walks each.

Lakewood was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Beckstrom had the most chances in the field with six.

Lakewood Gladiators 14U ousted the Thunderwolves Gold 14U 15-9 in a back-and-forth affair on Saturday. The game was tied at eight in the top of the sixth when Riley Lacross drew a walk, scoring one run.

Wilson Genareo collected five hits in five at bats in the win. He doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the sixth inning, singled in the seventh inning and singled in the first inning.

Lakewood took the lead in the top of the third inning after Broc Bryan walked, Gavin Darr singled and Lacross hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

A ground out by Cole Fitzgerald gave the Gladiators a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth.

The Gladiators committed an error, which helped the Thunderwolves Gold tie the game at four in the bottom of the fourth.

Lakewood regained the lead in the top of the fifth as Genareo doubled, scoring one run to make it 5-4.

Thunderwolves Gold struck back to make it 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth when John Zimmerman singled, scoring one run, and an error scored three runs.

Lakewood Gladiators 14U recaptured the lead in the top of the sixth after Mason Degnan walked, Genareo singled, Bryan singled, and Lacross walked, each scoring one run to make it 9-8.

Lakewood scored six runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Karson Milne tripled, scoring one run, Degnan singled, scoring one run, Genareo singled, scoring one run, Lacross singled, scoring two runs and Gavin Weaver singled, scoring one run.

Genareo earned the win for Lakewood as the righty surrendered three hits and one unearned run over 2 1/3 innings, striking out two and walking one.

Nathan Milleville took the loss for Thunderwolves Gold and the reliever went 1 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out one and walking three.

Ryan Engquist stepped on the bump first for Lakewood Gladiators 14U, the righty gave up five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Lakewood amassed 15 hits in the game. Lacross provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Gladiators with 4 RBIs as he went 1 for 2. Darr and Degnan each added multiple hits for Lakewood. As a team, the Gladiators had patience at the plate, amassing 11 walks for the game, Lacross, Degnan, and Bryan led the team with two walks each and Degnan stole two bases.

The Lakewood Gladiators 14U trailed by as many as four, but came back to best NT Nighthawks 14U on Sunday at Fireman’s Field, 17-5.

Lakewood got on the board in the first inning after Mason Degnan scored after tagging up.

NT Nighthawks flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 5-1 lead.

Lakewood returned the favor in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on five hits to take a 8-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Karson Milne that drove in two.

Lakewood added to its early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Milne singled, Gavin Weaver grounded out and Ryan Engquist singled, each scoring one run.

The Gladiators scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Milne drew a walk to score one run, Weaver singled to score one run, Engquist doubled to score two runs, and Degnan grounded out to score another two runs.

Drake Beckstrom earned the win for Lakewood, allowing four hits and five runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Broc Bryan tossed one scoreless inning for the Gladiators in relief, giving up zero hits and walking none.

Lakewood amassed 12 hits in the game with Milne, Engquist, and Weaver each collecting two hits. Milne, Engquist, and Bryan each drove in three runs for the Gladiators.

CITY REC. BASEBALL

The Affinity One Blue Jays beat the Acme Appliance Athletics 21- 2 to improve their record to 12-1.

From the Blue Jays, Alex Erickson went 3 for 3 with a triple and two doubles, Kaleb Senear went 2 for 3 with a double and a single, Branson Pastorchik went 2 for 3 with a double and a single.

From the Athletics, Riley Godwin went 2 for 2 with two singles, Declan went 1 for 1 with a single and Andrew Coursin played great defense with a few great catches .

The Affinity One Blue Jays improved to 11-1 with a 15-6 win over the Fresh Press Studios Astros.

For the Affinity One Blue Jays, Logan Erickson went 2 for 2 with a double and a single, Maddie Martin went 2 for 2 with a double and a single and then Michael Tauser hit 2 for 3 with a pair of singles

For the Fresh Press Studio Astros, Mason Matherly went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double and a single, Tony Diers went 2 for 2 with a double and a single and Brandon Alcorn went 1 for 2 with a homer.

Affinity One Blue Jays improved to 10-1 with a 19-9 win over Ecklofs Rockies. The Affinity One Blue Jays had Connor Devlieger going 3 for 3 with a triple and two doubles, Collin Devlieger went 3 for 3 with a triple, a double and a single and Camdyn Yateswent 2 for 3 with two doubles.

For the Ecklofs Rockies, Malik Watkins went 3 for 3 with three doubles, Dono Ernewein went 3 for 3 with a double and two singles and Myles Watkins went 3 for 3 with a double and two singles.

The Affinity One Credit Union Blue Jays improved to 9-1 as they defeated the AJ Texas Hots Yankees 15-5.

Leading the Blue Jays was Chandler Devlieger going 4 for 4 with a triple, two doubles and a single, Lexi Oste went 3 for 3 with a double and two singles and Cameron Pintagro going 3 for 3 with three singles.

The AJ Texas Hots Astros had three players, Leyondre Glover, Wyatt Sorenson and Natalie Scott all hit 2 for 2 with two singles.
