McComber Scores 5 In Salamanca’s Lacrosse Loss

SALAMANCA — The Salamanca girls lacrosse team came up just short of Niagara Wheatfield 11-10 in nonleague action on Wednesday.

The Warriors were led by Leilene McComber with five goals and an assist, Keianna John netted a hat trick and two assists and Marijah Skye dealt three assists.

John also collected four ground balls and won six draws, while McComber had four ground balls, an interception and caused four turnovers.

Acey Stevens made 10 saves in net for Salamanca (1-1).

TUESDAY

GOWANDA ROLLS DEPEW

DEPEW — The Gowanda girls lacrosse team opened Conference 4 action with a 20-1 victory over Depew on Tuesday.

Chloe Luther led the Panthers with five goals and four assists, Lily Scanlan added four goals and four assists, Cadence Luther netted three goals and an assist and Karice John slotted four goals. Senior Layla Gamble also stood out, scoring a coast-to-coast goal, recording two ground balls and had an interception.

The Panthers (1-1, 1-0) were dominant in the draw circle winning 20 of 22 taken.

Depew (0-1, 0-1) received its only goal from Ashley Krysztof assisted by Olivia Leazott.

Gowanda’s first home game is today against Springville at 5:30 p.m.
