Frewsburg Wins Second Game In Myrtle Beach; JHS Falls

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Fueled by a seven-run second inning, Frewsburg won its second straight game in the South Atlantic Bank Invitational on Thursday, downing DuPont Manual, Kentucky 14-8 at St. James High School.

Garrett Brink led the Bears with two hits and four RBIs and Cole Mazzurco added two hits and drove in three runs. Also collecting two hits were Maddox Sheesley and Trent Lewis, who also drove in a run apiece.

Brink, one of four Frewsburg pitchers, was the winner, working 3.1 innings, scattering four hits and striking out five. Sheesley, Aidan Gruber and Chase Haglund, who stole three bases, also saw time on the mound.

The Bears will be back in action at 2 p.m. today when they take on Shady Springs, Kentucky at Carolina Forest High School.

JAMESTOWN LOSES 13-1

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Freshman Blake Smith Jr. collected three hits and drove in a run, but Jamestown suffered a 13-1 setback to Lewis County, West Virginia at North Myrtle Beach High School.

The Red & Green (1-1) scored their run in the bottom of the first inning when Caleb Piazza reached on an error and eventually scored on Smith Jr.’s single.

Piazza, Smith Jr. and Kyle Falkowski shared the pitching duties for Jamestown, which will be back in action at 10 a.m. today against Midview, Ohio at Loris High School.
