Jamestown Picks Up First Win Over Mount Mercy
Alyson Canfield scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added four steals to lead Jamestown to a 49-38 victory over Mount Mercy in a nonleague girls basketball game at McElrath Gymnasium on Wednesday.
The senior netted 14 points in the second half when the Red Raiders outscored Mount Mercy 29-15 to raise their record to 1-1.
Jamestown, which received nine rebounds from Anna Engquist, had just 12 made field goals, but it converted 19 of 28 attempts from the foul line, including 9 of 10 after intermission.
Mount Mercy, which led 23-20 at the break, was paced by Alexis Dintino with 14 points and Meghan Balen with 12.

PRICE NETS 18 IN WIN
BEMUS POINT — The Maple Grove girls basketball team stayed ahead of Falconer in the second half to win 49-44.
Claire Price was efficient at the free-throw line going 6 for 7 and leading the Red Dragons in scoring with 18 points, while Hayley Johnson added 9 points and Alex Halstrom scored 8.
Falconer’s effort was led by Augustine Krenzer with 15 points after hitting four 3-pointers.

RANDOLPH DOMINATES 2ND QUARTER
PANAMA — Skylar Herington scored 12 of Randolph’s points during an 18-2 second quarter as the Cardinals pulled away from Panama for a 71-31 nonleague victory.
Herington finished with 34 points, including eight 3-pointers, to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Quinn Pence had 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Gianna Bowles added 12 points, four rebounds and four steals. Zoey Dickerson chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals for the Cardinals (3-2), who finished with 13 3-pointers.
Kylie Morgan led the Panthers (0-3) with 9 points and nine rebounds, while Kaitlyn Horton had 7 points and Cassie Lyon had three steals.

The Dunkirk girls basketball team edged Silver Creek 33-32 in nonleague action on Tuesday night.
Molly DiCara powered Dunkirk with 13 points, five rebounds, nine steals and three assists, while Brooke Szymczak hauled in 11 rebounds, four steals and made one block.
Silver Creek’s effort was led by Gracelin Stevens with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
