Maple Grove Upends Brocton; Falconer Outlasts Cassadaga Valley

FALCONER — Falconer led 20-11 after the first quarter and then hit five 3-pointers in the second quarter to put away Cassadaga Valley 71-50 in Division 1 East play.
Nathan Bailey hit three of the 3-pointers during the second quarter before Roger Markham scored 11 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter for the Golden Falcons (3-1, 1-0).
Mathis Baehr chipped in 16 points; Roger Markham added 10 assists, six steals and five rebounds to his line; and Zach Markham had 9 points and 11 rebounds for Falconer.
Ace Pierce led the Cougars (0-6, 0-2) with 21 points and Austin Main had 12.

WOLVERINES CRUISE IN 2ND HALF
WESTFIELD — Westfield entered the second half tied 26-26 against Clymer, but a big third quarter propelled the Wolverines to a 52-35 Division 2 West victory.
Carson Swanson shined again for Westfield (5-1, 2-0) with a game-high 27 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists; Chris Vacanti pitched in 10 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals; Aaron Fuller scored 9 points, grabbed five boards, dished two assists, made two steals and one block; Mason Whitesell collected six boards and four assists; and Zach Maguire added six boards, three assists and two steals.
Clymer (1-3, 0-2) was led by Kaden Beckerink with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block; Jonathan Massing added 11 points, five boards, two assists and a steal; Kameron Einink collected five boards and two assists; and Mitchell Weston added a steal and a block.

GOWANDA — Silver Creek overcame a 14-point first-quarter deficit and trailed 40-33 at halftime before beating Gowanda 81-69 in Division 1 East action.
Ray Cortes led the Black Knights with 23 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists, while Jose Pratts had 22 points and 16 rebounds.
Quentin Centner led the Panthers (4-2, 1-1) with a career-high 39 points, including 15 in the first quarter.
“They were getting out in transition,” Silver Creek head coach Ralph Jackson said. “They got a lot of easy buckets.”
Brady Eick chipped in 15 points, including 6 in the fourth quarter, and four assists, while John Steinwachs had 12 points and Simon White had eight rebounds for Silver Creek (4-2, 1-1).

BRINK’S BEST PROPELS PANAMA
PANAMA — Carter Brink scored a career-high 38 points to send Panama past Frewsburg 71-62 in nonleague action.
Brink added seven rebounds and four assists for the Panthers (4-1, 0-1), Alex Barmore hauled in 11 rebounds and dished a block, Bryce Hinsdale dished six assists and made three rebounds and Tate Catanese collected seven boards with a steal.
Gavin Smith turned in quite the performance for Frewsburg (1-3, 1-0) as he poured in 32 points, grabbed five rebounds, made four steals and two assists. Garrett Brink added 10 points, three assists and a steal, Blake Weaver had four boards and two steals and Chase Haglund scored 9 points with three assists.
