YMCA Jets Hosting Competitive Swim Camp
The Jamestown YMCA Jets will be hosting a competitive swim camp at the Jamestown YMCA starting on July 11.
The camp runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This camp is open to all swimmers ages 9 and above, regardless of team affiliation, with at least one year of competitive swimming experience. Camp will focus on strokes, endurance, starts and turns.
Swimmers can purchase a 10-visit punch card that is good throughout the summer. Siblings may share cards. Secondary, or extra cards are available for purchase as needed. The punch cards will be available beginning July 11 at the YMCA’s Jamestown Branch.
The cost is $50 for 2022-2023 Jets and $100 for Non-Jets. Swimmers have the option of dropping in and there is a $12/per visit fee for that. All swimmers must have a signed info form/waiver on file.
The Intro to Competitive Swimming camp is geared toward swimmers who fall into either the 8 and under group or have no prior competitive swimming experience. Intro to Competitive Swimming will run on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Jamestown YMCA.
Registration begins today, the cost of Intro to Competitive Swimming is $60 for members and $120 for potential members.
The Jets are Jamestown’s original swim team with roots reaching back over 90 years. The team is made up of swimmers from multiple school districts in Chautauqua County and Pennsylvania. Swimmers range from first time on a swim team to state and national qualifiers. The Jets invite all swimmers 5-18 years of age who are able to swim a length of the pool front crawl and backstroke to come and try it out. All swimmers who want to have fun and race are encouraged to try us out. The Jets will be starting their 92nd season in September.
