Curling Leagues
Following are the Week 5 results of the Northwest Arena Fall Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique.
5:45 JEREMY’S BEL-VIEW MONDAY LEAGUE
The Drunken Sliders climbed the standings with two convincing wins over Haggy’s Booze Haggz (32-23) and top-seeded Scuba Crew (35-28). David Mazzone and Ned Baudo constructed the 2-0 night for the team.
Shoeless Joe’s Pub got its season back on track thanks to Theresa Jackson and Rich Tyger. The pair curled well in wins over TRCurlers (41-33) and Legion of Broom (46-44).
Team Celsius is also .500 with The Pub as they controlled house one against Team Fahrenheit (35-30) and Stone Cold Maidens (33-25). Fred Pellerito and Jason Badgley were the stars of the night.
Jack Twinam and Tina Currie maintained first place for Scuba Crew in the 34-31 win over Stone Cold Maidens.
Todd Frangione was the driving force in the battle of the brooms. Legion of Broom cruised past Fruit of the Brooms 48-34.
Beth Jermain played a key role for TRCurlers in the 34-30 escape of Haggy’s Booze Haggz.
Jamie Billquist turned it around for Team Fahrenheit in a 31-25 conquest with Fruit of the Brooms.
6:45 JEREMY’S BEL-VIEW MONDAY LEAGUE
Short & Curly claimed first place, thanks to high-flying offense from Jasen Swanson. They dismantled BLATTS 46-14 and clicked on all cylinders against Snow Good at This 56-43.
Honest Abe picked up two quality wins over Kia Curlers (30-25) and Snow Good at This (36-25). Drew Wilcox guided his team to an undefeated evening.
Ray Downey came up big for Glass House Gang in an overtime win against Pickle Pushers (43-42) and in the 30-18 barnburner with Galbatos.
Craig Merchant kept the Stone Cold Curlers towards the top after beating Kia Curlers 38-25.
Pickle Pushers received a big night from Sherry Mattison as they were able to fight off Rock Blockers 39-31.
Rock Blockers and Sophia Horner bounced back in a 32-26 affair with Stone Cold Curlers.
Congratulations to BLATTS for getting their first victory of the season. It wasn’t easy, however. Sarah Traham led them to a 26-23 victory over Galbatos.
5:30 STEVE CHAMBERS/LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
Trish McClennan and Stephanie Trusso led Girls with Stones over Gren’s Growlers (46-43) and Slone Melhuish (41-26).
Hindy’s Hurlers knocked off Curl Jam 33-29 behind Kim Hurley’s strong play.
Slone Melhuish started out its night with a 44-39 victory over Hindy’s Hurlers as Kym Eimiller showed off her stickwork.
Golfers on Ice won an exciting overtime thriller (50-48) over Hindy’s Hurlers on Jim Gustafson’s game-winning shot.
Curl Jam defeated Gren’s Growlers 40-37 behind the strong play of Josh Johnson.
6:30 STEVE CHAMBERS/LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
The Brush Offs remain the only undefeated team after five weeks as Steve Shelters led his team to two victories over In the House (33-25) and We’ve Got the Stones (51-34).
12 oz. Curlers, led by Kevin Gastol and Ryan Daluba, remain near the top of the division with two wins over The Ice Men (29-28) and Cold As Ice (47-34).
Paul Gustafson showed his curling prowess for The Ice Men versus Smokin Rocks to earn a 33-26 victory.
Travis Higgs continues his outstanding play for Got Stones as they defeated The A&P’s 49-39 and Jamestown Hammer 47-39.
The A&P’s captured a win over Perfect Stones 44-35 as Sue Comella was their top curler.
7:30 STEVE CHAMBERS/LUV TOYOTA WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
Dot’s Gift Boutique remains the top of the division as it swept Draw a Blank (48-22) and Curls Gone Wild (30-20) as they were led by the veteran Rex McCray.
12 oz. Curlers continued their winning ways behind strong play from Tim Sturges as they topped Stone Cold Sippers (28-25) and Pace’s Special (34-27).
Curl Power captured two wins over Pace’s Aces (38-25) and Stone Cold Sippers (43-19) as Jen Scolton and Emily Lyons teamed up to lead the way.
Home Despots earned two wins over Ice & Easy (40-31) and Draw a Blank (38-28) as Todd Singleton showed his outstanding stickwork.
Darren Anderson continued his strong play in his first season, as he pushed Barney’s Hoof Trimming past the Ice Holers (33-29).
The Ice Holers bounced back in their second game as they knocked off Pace’s Aces (28-25), as John Lyon was their first star.
4:30 RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP FRIDAY LEAGUE
Seminar Group continued its winning ways to lead the division with two wins as Rob White and Wayne Rishell lead the way past Always Late (41-38) and Robinson Law Office (62-33).
2 Curls & 1 Cup posted two wins, behind strong play from Zach Muntz against Lions and Bear (41-37) and Always Late (30-28).
Tracey’s Dog topped Premier Listings (51-31), as Nick Lucas was their leading curler.
Bruce Moore and Elliot DeLeon led Cold Beer Here past Sweeping Beauties (51-49).
DH } SW recording its first career win over Premier Listings 26-25 as Jim Bergman showed his curling prowess.
