Jamestown CC Men’s Soccer Team Improves To 2-2-1
Coming off a strong performance against No. 4 Genesee Community College, the Jamestown CC men’s soccer team came away with a 3-1 victory against North Country CC on Saturday afternoon.
The Jayhawks (2-2-1, 2-1 Region 3) fell behind early in the match with the Saints getting the lead in the eighth minute, but they responded late in the first half as freshman Alex Watt (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Campbell College) got his first collegiate goal in the 34th minute off the feed from sophomore Tiago Aguilar.
Sophomore Tshepiso Ntuli (Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa/Pretoria Boys HS) was able to find the back of the net off a beautiful crosser from freshman James Cassidy (Glasgow, Scotland/Calderglen HS) in the 79th minute. Ntuli iced the game in the 90th minute as fellow countryman Tholo Malebo (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Crawford International-Lonehill) set him up for the score.
Freshman goalkeeper Gavin Roux (East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa/Selbourne College) got the win in net, making three saves.
JCC WOMEN FALL
In another early season matchup against a tough opponent, the Jamestown Community College women’s soccer team fell to North Country CC by a score of 3-0.
The Saints, who received votes in the latest NJCAA DIII women’s soccer rankings, took a 2-0 lead in the first half and added another goal in the second half.
The Jayhawks (0-3, 0-2 Region 3) had three opportunities to get in the net with Raena Bird (Jamestown/Frewsburg HS), Brynne Conley (Lakewood/Southwestern High), and Reagan Chitester (Frewsburg/Frewsburg HS) all getting good looks to score.
Freshman goalkeeper Jolize Beukman (Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa/Hoerskool Zwartkop) went the distance in net, making seven saves.
