Five CCAA Baseball Players Earn First-Team All-WNY
The Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association is well-represented on the All-Western New York Small School baseball team.
Portville senior pitcher Max Yehl has been named the Player of the Year and Mike Matz was chosen the Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers to a Section VI Class C championship and a berth in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Final Four.
Joining Yehl on the First Team are senior catcher Gavin Borrello of Silver Creek; senior infielders Aidan Kennedy of Southwestern and sophomore Owen Rush of Fredonia; and junior outfielder Gabe Roth of Clymer/Sherman/Panama.
Second-team Small School selections include freshman catcher Blake Herman of Gowanda; junior infielder Thomas Bates of Olean, junior infielder Trent Burchanowski of Clymer/Sherman/Panama; sophomore infielder Luke Petryszak of Portville; senior outfielder Simon Davis of Fredonia; and senior designated hitter Tucker Fenton of Maple Grove.
Honorable-mention selections from the CCAA include: Kynan Egan, Jackson Gowan, Colin McPherson and Jake Vaillancourt of Maple Grove; Donavon Guglielmi of Pine Valley; Bryce Hinsdale, Micah Willink and Austin White of Clymer/Sherman/Panama; Hayden Hoag of Salamanca; Lucas March of Ellicottville; Cade Neubauer of Silver Creek; John Ondus of Gowanda; Luke Pagett of Randolph; and Luke Petruzzi of Portville.
Named All-Western New York Large School honorable mention is Juan Matos of Jamestown.
Nolan Smith of Hamburg is the Player of the Year on the Large School team. Derek Hill of Hamburg and Paul Nasca of St. Joe’s share Coach-of-the-Year honors.
