The last Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 basketball game of the regular season didn’t quite go as planned for Jamestown on Tuesday night.

But Coach Ben Drake wasn’t offering any excuses after the Red Raiders fell to Clarence 59-58 at McElrath Gymnasium.

“They deserved to win,” Drake said. “They played much better than we did tonight, really at both ends of the floor. … Offensively, they played very loose, free and they came to win. They played much better basketball than we did.”

Grayson White led the way for the Red Devils, who lost at home to Jamestown 79-62 last month. Julius White added 14 points and Garrett White chipped in 12.

Jaylen Butera led the Red Raiders with 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Sean Paige contributed 16 points. Trey Drake grabbed six boards.

Clarence (10-8, 8-6) led 30-27 at halftime and 46-45 after three quarters. One consolation for the Red Raiders (16-3, 13-1) is they have already clinched the division title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Section VI Class AA playoffs.
