Curling Leagues
Northwest Arena recently hosted Week 5 of the its Fall Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique.
5:45 JARED ZAHN/ERA REALTOR MONDAY LEAGUE
Shoeless Joe’s Pub took over the top spot as it knocked off the Sonic Sliders 41-28 and TRCurlers 44-38. Joe Jackson and Tonie Wirsen were the leading curlers.
Fruit of the Brooms slid some big numbers up to secure two victories as they also defeated TRCurlers 51-48 and Pepsi Sparks 45-29 behind strong play from Pete Fuller and Frank Snyder.
War Vets also defeated Pepsi Sparks 50-38 behind Bill Breen’s outstanding play.
Haggy’s Booze Haggz took home bragging rights as they knocked off War Vets 44-39. Deb Cardone and Keira Close continued to show their top-notch curling form.
The Gemstones earlier had defeated the Rockstar-Z 35-27 as Kaylee Keith was their top scorer.
TRCurlers started out their night with a win over Curls Night Out 36-28 behind the strong play of Pat Germain.
The Rockies ended their night with a nail-biting 39-37 win over the Gemstones behind strong play from Bob Samuelson.

Dan and Jan Bowman carried the Ice Hearts to their first career victories as they knocked off On the Rocks 30-28 and TOMTE’ Curlers 46-29.
The Pickle Pushers earned their first sweep of the season as they defeated Chadakoin Curling Crew 39-32 and On the Rocks 40-39 behind outstanding play from Janet Calabrese.
Stark Gravel Products went 2-0 as they defeated Glass House Gang 29-28 and Sip & Sliders 42-32. Clarke Wiltsen and Zack Liden led the way.
Lakeshore Paving secured a win over Short & Curly 46-41 with strong play from Mark Lindstrom.
Chadakoin Curling Crew handled Glass House Gang 45-39 as Mike Dawson showed his curling prowess.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
Hindy’s Hurlers remain in the top spot with two wins over Cat’s Who Curl 28-21 and Silver Stones 44-33 behind strong play from Tim Hurley and Mark Hinderleider.
Also going 2-0 on the night were the Stone Cold Maidens as they also bested Curls Night Out 51-45 and Curl Jam 34-24 with star performances from Julie Korban and Sherry Schutter.
Curls Night Out knocked off Cats Who Curl 33-27 as Bonnie Magers was their top curler.
Silver Stones recorded their first career victory as they defeated Had a Few 54-39 with “The Professor” Jim Chimenti leading the way.
Girls with Stones defeated Curl Jam behind strong play from Mary Bosek.
Had a Few bounced back in its second game by besting Girls with Stones 29-20 as Amy Youngberg and Brenda Munella showed off their curling exploits.

WEDNESDAY LEAGUE
The Brush Off moved into first place with two wins over Cold As Ice 25-19 and Curls Gone Wild 57-39 with Nick Kahanic and Jenn Swanson being the top curlers.
Lewis & Lewis I went 2-0 on the week as it also defeated Cold As Ice 36-27 and Geriatric Curling Machine 49-29 with strong play from George Panebianco.
12oz. Curlers continued their winning ways with two wins over Lakefront Stoners 36-27 and Geriatric Curling Machine 29-28 as Kevin Gastol led the way.
The Icemen put up two wins as they defeated Smokin Rocks 39-30 and Legion of Broom 35-34 as they received stellar play from Seth Boardman and Randy Kent.
Lewis & Lewis II opened up their night with a 48-35 win over Legion of Broom behind strong play from Cindy Panebianco.
Curling Me Softly upended Lewis & Lewis II on its last stone by Nick Babcock to secure the 23-22 victory.
Curls Gone Wild scored a big win in their first game with a 26-18 win over Curling Me Softly behind strong play from Don Steward.
Smokin’ Rocks defeated Lakefront Stoners 28-21 as Jason Britt led the way.

Dot’s Gift Boutique continues to stay atop the division as it bested Rand Machine 53-44 and Slone Melhuish 54-33. Steve Chambers and Bryan Olson played outstanding.
In its opening game, Slone Melhuish picked up its first career curling victory by defeating Neil’s Propane 40-39 behind newcomer Abby Brunenavs.
Curl Power earned two wins over Sub Zero 37-20 and Neil’s Propane 28-15 as Jenn Scolton took home bragging rights.
Stone Crushers also took home two victories by beating Snow Good at This 35-17 and Haggy’s Jr. Curling 25-24. They received outstanding play from Rob Acoin and Mindy Crabtree Lawson.
Got Stones defeated Sisterhood of the Traveling Stones 41-34 with Adam Paterniti leading the way.
KIA Curling Crew also defeated the Sisterhood 34-27 thanks to the outstanding stickwork of Hillary Elleman.
Sub Zero bounced back with a 39-28 victory over Snow Good at This behind strong play from Tina Currie.
Haggy’s Jr. Curling defeated KIA Curling Crew 37-36 as Grayson Elleman carried the hot stick to victory.
4:30 RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP FRIDAY LEAGUE
Cold Beer Here took over sole possession of first place by defeating Bemus Boulders 53-46 and Premier Listings 45-37. Cold Beer Here was led by Bruce Moore.
We’re On Time defeated Seminar Group 36-33 and The Chestnuts 24-19 behind strong play from sharp-shooter Laura Snow.
Team BANG also went 2-0 by defeating Haggy’s 4 Below 38-27 and Bemus Boulders 33-32 behind strong play from John Siliano and Travis Fye.
Sweeping Beauties handed Tracey’s Dog 51-43 and Haggy’s 4 Below 45-25 losses behind stellar play from Anne Schettine.
Seminar Group knocked off Tracey’s Dog 43-26 as Wayne Rishell showed his curling prowess.
Earlier, The Chestnuts slid by Premier Listings 52-22 as Mary Rappole and Mike Lyons showed their outstanding stickwork.
