WOLVERINES WIN

PANAMA — The Westfield Wolverines started off Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West boys basketball action with a 60-43 victory over Panama on Thursday.

The Wolverines were led by the Swanson brothers, Carson and Darien who both scored 17 points each.

Westfield trailed by one after the first quarter, but turned it around from there, holding Panama to just four points in the second quarter. In the third quarter the Wolverines really started to pull away and in the second half overall the Wolverines went 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, including Carson hitting four of his five.

“Darien did a great job of breaking down our defense,” said Panama head coach Ed Nelson. “Carson was left wide open in the corner numerous times. Cole (Holland) is the unsung hero on their team, he does a great job on defense for them and does a lot of things that don’t show up in the book.”

Alex Barmore led the Panthers with 17 points and Carter Brink was the main facilitator with eight assists and four points.
