Just six days prior, the Pirates beat the Red Dragons by 34 in Clymer, but that wasn’t the case on Dutch Hollow Road.

The teams were tied at 60-all with a minute left in the first overtime, but turned it over to each other before the Pirates missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

Matthew Welsh opened the second overtime with a slashing lay-in to give Maple Grove the lead, but Kopta answered with a second-chance 3-pointer to make it 63-62. The Red Dragons took their final lead on Cam Bower’s bucket in the lane, but Kopta answered with another 3-pointer to give the Pirates a 66-64 lead.

Bower found Jackson Gowan open under the basket to tie the game at 66-all, but Owen White found Weston Hepler open inside the give Clymer the lead back at 68-66. After Maple Grove missed a 3-pointer, Hepler went 2 for 2 at the free-throw line to give the Pirates a four-point lead with 1:22 remaining.

The Red Dragons missed two more 3-point attempts in the final minute and Willink put the game away at the charity stripe.

Willink finished with a team-high 18 points and 21 rebounds to go along with five assists for the Pirates (2-0). Austin White added 15 points, five steals and four assists; Hepler had 15 points; Kopta had 14 points; and Owen White had 9 points and five assists.

Fenton led Maple Grove with 24 points and Jackson Gowan had 14 while Matthew Welsh and Colin McPherson each had 10.
