FREWSBURG — After two years merged with Randolph, Frewsburg head coach Terry Gray was looking forward to Senior Night back home.

A trio of seniors stepped up for the Bears.

Peyton Hayes had 15 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns while also going 7 of 12 for 137 yards and four touchdowns through the air as Frewsburg topped Dundee 60-34 in eight-man football action.

Brad Nelson caught all seven of Hayes’ completions for the 137 yards and four touchdowns while Zach Heberlein ran 10 times for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bears, who lost their first three games of the season, are now on a modest two-game winning streak currently sit in the No. 4 spot for the postseason.

The teams were tied 6-6 after the first quarter before a 13-yard touchdown run by Heberlein and a pair of Nelson touchdown catches put Frewsburg ahead 28-12 at halftime.

After the break, Jack Yost returned a punt 55 yards for a score, Nelson caught a 40-yard touchdown, Hayes ran in a score from 32 yards out and Nelson caught his final touchdown of the night, a 29-yarder, as the Bears took a 54-18 lead into the final quarter.

Heberlein led the Frewsburg defense with seven tackles, Caleb Carr had six tackles and a forced fumble, and Hayes had five tackles.

Brady Richardson led Dundee with nine carries for 104 yards while Josh Cramer led the defense with 11 tackles.

Maple Grove, which had a bye this week, is currently the No. 3 seed and finishes its season next Friday against Holley. The Bears travel to C.G. Finney/Northstar Christian Academy for a Saturday matinee.
