16-18 TRAVEL BASEBALL
The Southern Tier Regulators went 3-1-1 to finish fourth out of 24 teams at the Darien Lake Tournament over the weekend.
On Friday, the Regulators tied Baseball U-NY Black, 4-4.
Saturday morning, Southern Tier beat the Line Drive Lazers, 8-4.
Bryce Jackson went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs while Lance Baldensperger went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Anthony Gullo had a double and two RBIs while Aaron Hair and Austyn “Yucky” Cummings each doubled.
Jackson threw four innings of one-hit ball, striking out nine before Adam Goot and Trey Swartz combined for the final nine outs, striking out four.
Cummings and Nate Engdahl each had four hits, including a double, to lead an 18-hit attack Saturday afternoon as the Regulators beat the Kitchener Panthers, 14-4.
Aidan Morrison went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, Baldensperger had three hits, including a double, and scored three runs, and Goot had a double and drove in three runs for Southern Tier. Nick Crandall also had two hits with a double and two RBIs.
Lucas Willink threw 5 2/3 innings, striking out four before Crandall got the final out on a strikeout for the Regulators.
Swartz threw a two-hitter Sunday morning as Southern Tier beat the Great Lakes Gators, 3-1.
Swartz struck out four and allowed just an unearned run.
Baldensperger went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run, scoring two of the Regulators’ three runs. Engdahl and Cummings each drove in a run while Kyler Majka had a hit and scored a run.
In the semifinals, the Rochester Roughriders scored the game’s lone run in the top of the seventh inning for a 1-0 victory over Southern Tier.
Goot threw 6 2/3 innings, striking out six while allowing four hits on the mound. Evan Pirtz and Crandall had the Regulators’ only two hits.
JAMESTOWN CAL RIPKEN
Henrik Alm had three hits and Jackson Frangione stood out defensively as Cusimano’s Carstar defeated Jamestown Honda, 9-7, at Allen Park.
Rhodes Haluska had two hits and an RBI while Jacob Ecklof was defensive standout for Jamestown Honda.
Tyler Ostrander had two hits, including a grand slam, as Cusimano’s Carstar defeated Phone Zone, 11-8, at Allen Park.
Caleb Anderson was the defensive standout for Cusimano’s Carstar.
Cole Chapman went 4 for 4 and Gianni Ciancio shined for Phone Zone.
Griffin Knopp had three doubles and seven RBIs as Ultimate beat the YMCA, 12-0, on Saturday.
AJ Conkright stood out defensively for Ultimate.
Drew Davis stood out on both sides of the ball for the YMCA.
Carter Nickerson had three hits and three RBIs as Ultimate defeated PhoneZone, 19-14, on Sunday.
Mason Crawford was the defensive standout for Ultimate.
Jonathan Amidon was the defensive standout while Andrew Cana and Kian Volpe shined on offense for PhoneZone.
CITY REC BASEBALL
Donavin Carraher had three triples and a double as the GOB Electric Astros defeated the Affinity One Federal Credit Union Blue Jays, 21-6, at Nordstrom Field.
Cameron Carraher, Logan Grossman, Jericho Thagard and Austin Fish each had three hits for the Astros.
Serenity Schauers and Justin Martin chipped in two hits each while Hannah Higgs ripped a triple for the Blue Jays.
SOUTHERN TIER GIRLS BABE RUTH SOFTBALL
Emma Derby doubled and hit a home run as Southwestern’s Integrated Benefit Solutions defeated Southwestern’s Avery Olson Law Office, 25-18.
Siri Dubois led the defense for the winners.
Olivia Pappalardo singled twice to lead Avery Olson Law’s offense while Emma Malmstrom Jouannet led the defense.
Emma Derby was a double shy of the cycle to lead Southwestern’s Integrated Benefit Solutions to a 23-15 win over Jamestown’s Cynde B Photography.
Riley Stump had two doubles and a triple while Chole Charles also doubled for Integrated Benefit Solutions. Katelyn Casel led the defense for the winners.
Alyson Canfield had a single and double to lead the Cynde B Photography offense while Madison Potter was the leader on defense.
