To The Reader’s Forum: I read the article in the Post-Journal: “Isley returning as rodeo’s entertainer” (July 19 issue). I am pleased that award-winning rodeo-clown Keith Isley was at the Gerry Fire Department’s PRCA rodeo on August 4-7. Many people take rodeo-clowns for granted, yet their ability to distract wild bulls have saved the lives of countless cowboys. Justice Defined By Another Standard To The Reader’s Forum: The defacement and disrespect of the statues in Dow Park memorializing the Underground Railroad blemishes our area. I agree with the ‘No Hate in Jamestown Rally” deploring the destruction of property. At that rally, a spokesman said, “Justice needs to be intersectional. County GOP Has No Idea How To Improve County Economy

To The Reader’s Forum: In December 2005, when the last Democratic Chautauqua County Executive left office, the county’s labor forcec was 66,500 people. In December 2019, before the pandemic, Chautauqua County’s labor force was only 53,200 people, a decline of 13,300. These numbers are reported monthly by the New York State Department of Labor. Our governmental institutions – executive, legislative, and judicial - are only as effective as they are trustworthy. We expect our judges to be impartial arbiters of fact, and that is why I am so upset about Chief Judge Janet DiFiore accepting prioritized testing for herself and her family during the recent COVID-19 pandemic in New York. Nursing Homes Enforce The Distance Rule

To the Readers’ Forum: When are we going to be able to get close to our loved ones? We still have to wear masks, which I understand if your not vaccinated. But why do we still have to stay 6 feet apart during our visits? Even during outside visits? My loved one has been vaccinated and so has the rest of our family, yet we have to stay 6 feet apart while there are employees at these nursing homes who are not vaccinated taking care of our family members. Vaccinations should be manditory if you work in a health care facility. I think every nursing home is making their own rules ...
