We Must Keep Our Promises

To The Reader’s Forum: There are many crises demanding our attention these days. I want to talk about just one. During the longest war the US was ever involved in, our military was supported by soldiers, translators, and workers of Afghan origin. When we left that country, these people had been promised that if they met qualifications, if the passed rigorous vetting, if they waited for processing, they would be rewarded for their service with the opportunity to live in the US and make a life here. Mailman Goes Above And Beyond For Area Resident

To The Reader’s Forum: I would like to give a big thank you to the mailman who services Avalon Boulevard. He recently noticed my sister-in-law’s mailbox filling up and newspapers as well. Terrible snow and ice days. Knowing she lives alone he contacted the police to come and check on her. To her surprise two officers came to make sure she was OK. They collected her mail, had a chat and left. She was embarrassed but so appreciative of what took place. She couldn’t take the chance of falling. Now that was some great compassion and service. There is an unelected businessman, a private citizen-never even served as a public official in any capacity- who has breached part (USAID) of our US Government employment payment records and systems.
