So messers Reed and Collins don’t like New York Safe Act? I would suggest that they read it first, or at least the explanation that can be easily found on the internet.

Does the act prohibit or even inhibit hunters from enjoying their sport? No.

Does it prohibit gun collectors from enjoying their hobby? No.

Does it prohibit the ownership of guns — even assault weapons? No.

What does it do? It tries to keep firearms out of the hands of mentally ill or unstable people — something that Reed says he is concerned with. And it makes New Yorkers safer from gun violence.

It also addresses the special problems faced by large metropolitan areas with respect to guns.

What’s not to like?
