Maxine J. Brown

She was born April 4, 1940, in Oil City, PA, a daughter of the late Max and Bernice Pokay Szafran.

She graduated from high school in 1958 and Clarion University in 1962 with a degree in education.

Prior to her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a teacher’s aide at Love School. She had previously worked for Frewsburg Central School as a teacher.

She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish St. John Catholic Church.

She enjoyed reading, sitting on her front porch and swimming.

Surviving is her husband Chester “Chet” Brown, whom she married October 13, 1962; three children Kirk (Jill) Brown of Colleyville, TX, Kim (Ken) Peterson of Ft. Myers, FL and Kristin Thurston of Grapevine, TX and eight grandchildren Nolan, Loren, and Cole Brown, Erik, and Ellie Peterson and Jaret, Breck and Taya Thurston.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Robert Szafran.
