Marilee S. Brooks

Marilee S. Brooks, 87, of Kennedy, NY, passed away on April 25, 2024 at UPMC Chautauqua.

She was born in Jamestown on May 8, 1936, the youngest daughter of the late Helen and Darrell Sharp.

Marilee was a 1953 graduate of Falconer High School. She married her late husband, Robert W. Brooks at the Kennedy United Methodist Church on February 28, 1958. They were married 58 years until his death on September 30, 2016.

She is survived by her daughters, Lesley D. Brooks of Conewango Valley, NY, Mary Jane (John) Griffith of Falconer, NY, and April (Martin) Ericsson of Kennedy, NY. She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Bradley (Holly) Griffith, great-grandsons, Liam and Logan Griffith, Christopher (Amit Taneja) Griffith, Bethany (Matthew) Samuels, great grandchildren, Charlotte, Luke and Robert, Cassandra (Derrick) Dickerson, great-grandchildren, Parker, Graham, Jackson and Reighlynn, Ryan Ericsson, Boe R. Brooks, Heather Pratt and great granddaughter, Abbey. Marilee also leaves behind her precious dog, Lady, brother-in-law, Raymond Harwood, niece, Karen (Bill) Myers and nephew, Michael (Julie) Harwood and her very special friend, Robert Matson.

In addition to her parents, husband and sisters, Patricia Mosher and Phyllis Harwood, she was predeceased by a son, Darrin R. Brooks,

A woman of strong faith, Marilee knew and loved Jesus and often said, “I know where I am going.” She was a member of the Clark’s Corners Community Church where she had been a deaconess and held the office of financial secretary. After her retirement as a bookkeeper for Zahm and Matson, Inc., she volunteered at the Kennedy Senior Luncheon Site at the Kennedy United Methodist Church.

Marilee was a wonderful cook and baker. Friends and family will miss her cinnamon rolls, pies and spaghetti sauce. She loved visiting with her friends, Ruth and Bonnie, sitting on her front porch remembering “old” times about the Kennedy area.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of UPMC Chautauqua, Dr. John Lamancuso and Dr. Christine Brown for the wonderful care that they provided to her.

Friends and family are welcome on Monday, April 29 at the Clark’s Corners Community Church at 1:00 pm for calling prior to the service at 2:00 pm at the church. Following will be a dessert reception in the fellowship hall. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Kennedy at the convenience of the family.
