Darlene Ann-Marie Sampson, 64, of Falconer passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023 in her home.
She was born Darlene Ann-Marie Mucheck on Feb. 11, 1959 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late John Mucheck and Grace P. O’Brien. Darlene grew up in Derby, NY and later graduated from Jamestown High School in 1977. She was a hard worker, and she was responsible for the early success of OJ’s Smoke Shop. In later years, she worked at Dakota Watch and The Resource Center.
Darlene enjoyed decorating, planting flowers, going to the casinos, socializing, taking care of her dogs, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cleaning, vacuuming, and decorating her house for Christmas, and her lights were famous in the Randolph community.
Darlene is survived by her husband, John Sampson, whom she married Aug. 27, 2005 in Conewango, NY. She is also survived by her sons, Derek Payne of Olean, Deven (Nancy) Payne of Jamestown, and Sean (Heather) Payne of Cherry Creek, along with Jeremy Sampson of Indiana and Theresa Russo of Jamestown, and 12 grandchildren: Emily Payne, Natalie Payne, Landon Payne, Caysie Troutman, Caden Troutman, Cailey Russo, Anthony Russo, Adrianna Darling, Alexis Cameron, Mateo Sampson, Brooklyn Sampson, Reghan Sampson; six great-grandchildren; a brother Anthony (Sheri) Mucheck of Florida; and a brother-in-law Frank Miranda of South Carolina.
Darlene was preceded in death by her infant child Danny Payne in 1984, first husband Robert Payne in 1988, stepmother Marjorie Mucheck in 2004, mother Grace P. O’Brien in 2016, sister Susan Miranda in 2017, and father John Mucheck in 2022.
As per Darlene’s wishes, visitation will not be observed. The family is having a private celebration of life.
