Jo Ann Betty Casel

A Jamestown native, she was born Jan. 10, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Betty Casel.

Upon graduating from Jamestown High School in 1962, Jo Ann went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Buffalo State College. Jo Ann dedicated herself to improving the lives of special needs children throughout Buffalo’s inner-city community. She treated her students as family and worked selflessly and tirelessly to help them achieve their goals and dreams. For self expression, Jo Ann found joy in various art media and was known for her beautiful oil paintings.

She is survived by her brothers, James E. Casel, Jess R. Casel and her sisters, Joette J. Casel and Joy Casel Ellinor, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her father, “Big Joe” Casel, her mother, Betty E. Casel and her eldest brother, Joseph W. Casel.
