Carolyn H. Whittaker
Carolyn H. Johnson Whittaker passed from this life into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, (July 13, 2022) in Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born April 16, 1935, in Falconer, N.Y. Carolyn grew up on a small farm on Drybrook Road in Falconer, N.Y., the daughter of the late Carl and Gertrude Johnson, with five brothers and sisters. She was a lifelong resident although she enjoyed traveling with her husband. John throughout the United States and Canada. Carolyn was a devoted mother and homemaker to her three children: Bryan, Donna, and Alan. After they were grown, she used her cooking skills to work at Heritage Village in Gerry, N.Y., preparing and serving food to the residents. She had a talent for making any flower grow and blessed her family with that knowledge. While at Heritage Village she enjoyed walking around the gardens checking on the flowers.
Carolyn was a lifelong Christian and a member of Levant Wesleyan Church, Zion Covenant Church, and Gerry Free United Methodist Church. She attended services while living at Heritage Village and enjoyed the pastors visits. Although quiet by nature, she faithfully prayed for her family, the church, her country, staff, and fellow residents while living in Berquist. She spoke fondly of the health aids who became her friends while there.
Surviving is her three children: Bryan (Judy) Whittaker, Alan (Tammy) Whittaker, and Donna Zeiders; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Justin) Royer, Samuel (Rebecca) Whittaker, Benjamin Whittaker, Hannah Whittaker, Leah Whittaker, Erin (Josh) Weber, and Jaime (Drew) Holdnack; six great-grandchildren: Ezra, Theodorus, Kaede, Bjorn, Persephone, and Aegeus.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John G. Whittaker. whom she married Nov. 27, 1953, in Levant Wesleyan Church and who died July 29, 2016. Her parents and three brothers: Ralph, Floyd and Laverne Johnson; and two sisters: Hazel Yontz and Phyllis Lindquester.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, (July 29, 2022) in the Falconer Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Petry will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery, town of Poland, N.Y.
Friends will be received by the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, (July 29,2022) in the funeral home.
