Calogero “Charlie” Russo

Calogero “Charlie” Rus-so, 82, of Jamestown, passed away Jan, 3, 2021 in Richmond VA. He was born March 2, 1938, in Busaquino, Italy, the son of Bernardo Russo Sr, and Anna Salerno Russo.

Charlie owned the Hotel Franklin Bar and the Hotel California, both in James-town. He later owned a maintenance company that operated in both Jamestown and Virginia. After retiring in Jamestown, Charlie opened up a vegetable stand, Charlie’s Garden in Jamestown.

Charlie served his com-munity as a member of the Marco Polo Club, the Moose, and the Lakewood Rod and Gun. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church.

Charlie loved to garden and make his homemade wine that everyone loved. He was a great cook. Char-lie loved his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Calogero is survived by his sons: Bernardo “Dino” (Maryann) Russo Jr. of Vir-gina, Salvatore “Sam” Rus-so of Jamestown, and Mar-co Russo of Virgina; his grandchildren: Bianca (Giuseppe) Mandala, Carlo Russo and London Han-cock; his great-grandchild, Giuseppe Mandala; and his sister-in-law, Giovanna Coletti. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calogero is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Concetta Coletti Rus-so; and his sisters: Gnazia Russo and Josephine Rus-so.

Calling hours will be Fri-day Jan. 8, 2021, from 4-7 p.m., at Hubert Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Satur-day, Jan. 9, 2021 10 a.m., at St. James Roman Cathol-ic Church.

Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
