Joyce Keeler April 14, 1938 to March 23, 2020

Joyce Carol Aiken Olson Keeler, 81, of Falconer, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020, at the Heritage Green Nursing Home after a long illness.

Joyce was born April 14, 1938, in Jamestown, N.Y., and was the daughter of Warren J. and Helen Bartlett Aiken. Joyce was married to Roger (Beady) Olson from May of 1956 until the time of his death in 1977. Together they had two sons: Scott and Todd. Joyce often commented on how much she loved being a mom and grandma and more recently she became a great-grandma. She was delighted.

Joyce loved being a mom so much that when her boys were grown she continued to invest in those in her neighborhood with many calling her mom and grandma.

Several years after the death of her first husband, she married her second husband, Robert Keeler in March of 1983 and they had many happy years together until his death in 2001.

Joyce loved connecting with people. She was very active in her community and she cared very much for those who were sick and those who were celebrating milestones. It is our guess that many people in her community were a recipient of a greeting card from her at one time or another.

Joyce was a graduate of Falconer Central High School. She worked at Jamestown Mutual Insurance Company early in her career and then worked as a secretary at the Falconer United Methodist Church. She ended her career as a teacher’s aide at Harvey C . Fenner Elementary School, where she was able to love and encourage children.

Joyce was a long-time member of the Falconer United Methodist Church.

Joyce is survived by her children: Scott (Jill) Olson, Todd (Tammy) Olson; grandchildren: David (Lauren) Olson, Daniel (Sonnet) Olson, Andrew Olson and Tad (Tori) Porter: and great-grandchildren: Jack Olson, Ava Grace Olson and Killian Porter.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Helen and Warren Aiken;. her husbands: Roger Olson and Robert Keeler; her brothers: John Aiken and Frederick Aiken.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Joyce will be buried this week at Pine Hill Cemetery in Falconer, N.Y., with the family announcing a celebration of life service at a later date sometime in the future.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Falconer United Methodist Church, 201 N Work St., Falconer, NY 14733 or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.

In a direct quote from Joyce, “I was blessed big time with my family and my many friends…how I loved my family!”
