Maxine M. Hackett-Morgan

Maxine M. Hackett- Morgan, 82, formerly of Buffalo, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at the home of her daughter in Jamestown, where she had resided for the past 10 years.

She was born Oct. 1, 1936, in Buffalo, and was the daughter of the late Rev. Walter J. Christopher, Sr. and Aola Ophelia Wilson.

Educated in Buffalo schools, Maxine ultimately received her master’s degree from the University of Buffalo. She had been employed for 30 years by the City of Buffalo as an urban research planning associate in the Department of Human Resources and also in the Office of the Mayor.

Maxine was a member of Emmanual Temple Church in Jamestown and the Greater Refuge Temple of Christ Church while living in Buffalo. She was very proud of having served as president of the Western New York Women’s Council.

Surviving are two daughters: Grace M. Hackett-Simpson of Jamestown and Lydia Williams (Carlton Sr.) of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Michael Hackett, Gerald M. A. Dixie, Carlton Williams, Jr., and Maxine O., Dayvene, Davinna, Tyme and Promyss Williams; four great-grandchildren: Javier D. Hackett, Michael D. Barlow, Javonte R. Hackett and Royal M. A. Hackett; as well as her caregiver and great-niece, Ashley Lewis.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Emmanuel Temple Church, 1015 N. Main St. in Jamestown. The Rev. Uvie Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
