BEMUS POINT- Joseph Edmon Kaluza, 83, of Bemus Point, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown, N.Y.
He was born May 21, 1935, in Bemus Point, the son of the late Frank and Frances Ulyon Kaluza.
Joe had worked for the town of Ellery as an equipment operator.
He was a life member of the Maple Springs Fire Department and Fire District as a commissioner, belonged to the NRA, and belonged to Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Bemus Point.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed living the country life, raising his beef cattle, and was an avid hunter.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dorothy Higgs Kaluza, whom he married Feb. 11, 1956, in Bemus Point; one sister, Lillian Kaluza of Raleigh, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Kaluza; and four sisters; Zella Wilson, Jennie Federko, Maggie VanOrd and Eveline Lawrence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Bemus Point, N.Y. (41 Main Street, Bemus Point, N.Y.). FH Todd Remick will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, April 7, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St.).
