Paul C. Trippy

Paul C. Trippy, 88, of Newton Street, Fredonia, N.Y., and Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Westfield, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at UPMC Hamot of Erie, Pa., following a brief illness.

Paul was born on Dec. 3, 1925, in Erie, Pa., the son of the late Frank J. and Claire (Shelkey) Trippy.

He was employed by the NYS Thruway Authority as a traffic supervisor, starting first in the Syracuse Division and retiring from the Buffalo Division following many years of service. Paul was also the first Mobile (now Road Patrol) Sheriff’s Deputy in Chautauqua County, and was a member of Chautauqua County Deputy Sheriffs Association.

He was also a member of the Fredonia and Mayville American Legions, the Mayville VFW and the Chautauqua County Corvette Club. Paul was also a member of the former Centerville Masonic Lodge of North Syracuse, N.Y. and had been patron of the Mayville Order of the Eastern Star. He was a former member of The Loyal Order of Moose and the Mayville Fire Department and its exempt association.

His hobbies included playing cards and traveling with his 5th Wheel. He was proud to have visited every state and state capital, with the exception of Alaska.

He is survived by his one son: Paul F. Trippy of Fredonia, N.Y.; and his two daughters: Brenda Blakeslee of Westfield, N.Y. and Janet Trippy of Punta Gorda, Fla. Paul also has nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Mae (Horne) Trippy; by his daughter, Barbara Trippy; his son, Richard Trippy; his two grandsons: Robert Trippy and John Rossi; and his great-granddaughter, Alyssa Rossi.

Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and are invited to attend the funeral services there on Wednesday morning, Sept. 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Robertson officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, N.Y.

Paul’s family suggests memorials in his honor be made to Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 North Gale St., Westfield, NY 14787.
