Woman charged after dog, cats found alone in Stockton

STOCKTON -- A woman is facing charges after leaving three animals abandoned at a location on Route 380. Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday it received an animal complaint on July 2. Through an investigation it was determined that Katherine Gonzalez, 42, who deputies reported as homeless, did abandon a dog and two cats at a residence with no means of care. Gonzalez was charged with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance and abandonment of animals. She will be in town court later.

Tree removal rankles Lakewood board, resident

Lakewood Village Board members aren’t happy about the removal of trees in the village right of way on Gifford Avenue. There has been discussion of the trees during the board’s past two meetings. Code officer Jeff Swanson and John Certo, village public works supervisor, prepared a survey prior to the board’s July7 meeting that confirmed the property belonged to the village.
