Blaze damages home in Dunkirk Exposed electrical wiring is being blamed for a house fire on Friday in the city of Dunkirk, according to the investigation team at the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred at 153 King St. at 4:09 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, Dunkirk firefighters discovered a fire on the first floor of a two story home. All occupants had fled the house prior to the arrival of the department. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE – MAYVILLE – Victor M. Martinez, 26, of Dunkirk was charged Friday with third-degree criminal mischief. Martinez, who is incarcerated at the county jail, allegedly destroyed a jail-issued electronic tablet. He will answer to the charge in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date. – RIPLEY – Patrick J Bowman, 34, of Ripley was charged Monday with third-degree criminal trespass. It is alleged that he illegally entered the Ripley Town Hall. He was issued an appearance ticket for Ripley Town Court.

JAMESTOWN POLICE - Matthew K. Ducayne, 35, of Jamestown was charged with failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated, open container, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment at 11:50 p.m. Oct. 21 on Hall Avenue. Police report finding a vehicle running while occupied, parked half on the terrace and half in the street. Officers tried to make contact with the driver, but say he was sleeping and unresponsive while the car was still in drive. Officers got into the car, put it in park, shut it off and woke the driver. JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT — Tysean L. Mays, 19, of Jamestown, was charged with resisting arrest after a Sunday incident. At 1:05 a.m., officers responded to a south side address for a reported fight. Officers arrived on scene, and made contact with the alleged suspect Mays. During the course of the investigation, Mays then attempted to flee on foot, leading officers on a brief foot pursuit. Berenguer, 44, of Ashville was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal using drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence after a traffic stop at 12:04 a.m. Thursday. Police report the department’s K-9 Unit pulled a vehicle over in the area of Harrison and South Main streets and allegedly found Berenguer in possession of methamphetamine, a digital scale and a large quantity of U.S. currency. JAMESTOWN POLICE - Two city residents face charges after a traffic stop at 1:54 a.m. Thursday on Washington Street near West Fourth Street. According to a police report, the operator of the vehicle was identified as Casey R. Penhollow, and a passenger of the vehicle was identified as Alvin J. Jusino. Penhollow allegedly had an active arrest warrant through the Jamestown Police Department, and Jusino allegedly had an active warrant through the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
