DUNKIRK FIRE DEPARTMENT A trash can fire damaged the wall of an apartment house in the city on Friday. At approximately 3:37 p.m., the city of Dunkirk Fire Department was dispatched to 787 Deer St. Upon arrival, crews found that the exterior fire had spread into the wall of the apartment house. Quick action by residents and Dunkirk Police Officers kept the fire in check until firefighters could open the wall and extinguish it. ELLICOTT POLICE - Mark R. Burch Jr, ,32 , of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny, resisting arrest, and seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substance at 7:18 p.m. March 2 after Ellicott police officers responded to a shoplifting complaint where it is alleged Burch took property from an Ellicott business without paying. Burch allegedly began resisting arrest when officers attempted to place him under arrest, and officers allegedly found Burch with methamphetamine. Celoron Man Sentenced To Prison On Meth Charges

A Celoron man is going to prison for selling meth. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Darin L. Butts, Jr., 31, who was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis A. Testani, who handled the case, stated that in July and August 2023, investigators conducted seven controlled purchases of methamphetamine and fentanyl from Butts. JAMESTOWN POLICE - Robert G. Gilbert, 24, of Jamestown was charged with resisting arrest after a warrant check at 6:39 p.m. Monday on the south side of Jamestown. According to a police report, officers accompanied by Chautauqua County Probation conducted a warrant check and found Gilbert inside the home. Gilbert had several outstanding warrants through the Jamestown Police Department and was allegedly an absconder from Chautauqua County Probation.
