CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — At around 2:21 a.m. Sunday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret. The operator was identified as Julian C. Martin, 21 of Dunkirk. Futher investigation found Martin to be Driving While Intoxicated. Edington III, 36, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon as he was previously convicted of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Ballew, 34, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after the police department’s K-9 Unit allegedly saw a driver conduct moving violations on Allen Street near English Street at 12:38 a.m. Jan. 26. JAMESTOWN POLICE - Three people face charges after a traffic stop at 9:04 p.m. Wednesday at Allen and Maple streets. According to a police report, officers saw a vehicle allegedly commit a moving violation and pulled the vehicle over. Officers allegedly saw equipment in the vehicle commonly used for the weighing, mixing, packaging and distribution of narcotics along with a small quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine. Calves Injured In Barn Fire CHAUTAUQUA --- Several calves were injured in a Saturday morning blaze at a farm. At around 5:31 a.m., the Sherman Fire Department and several mutual aid departments responded to the Sherman Livestock Barn at 4151 Route 430 for a reported structure fire. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation.
