JAMESTOWN POLICE - Two city residents face charges after police broke up a reported burglary. At 6:10 p.m. Thursday, city police participating in a Gun Involved Violence Elimination detail responded to a south side home for a reported burglary in progress. Officers saw a man jump out of a second story window behind the home while police also found a woman in the home. JAMESTOWN POLICE - Sole A. Thomas, 22, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree assault at 1:49 a.m. Thursday after city police responded to the north side of Jamestown for a fight. Upon arrival officers report seeing a large crowd and an active fight. After investigation it was found that Thomas allegedly assaulted another person and injured the other person. JAMESTOWN POLICE - Dominic L. Canale, 22, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 5 p.m. Thursday after city police officers were conducting a warrant check on the city’s south side. Officers report seeing Canale in a person’s home knowing Canale had a valid stay away order of protection with the victim. Canale was charged, prompting a police search during which officers allegedly found a small amount of methamphetamine. Canale was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned. - ...

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — ELLERY — After 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 430. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Drew C. Whidden, 46, of Bemus Point. Further investigation found Whidden to have been driving while intoxicated. Whidden was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI (BAC .18 or higher), and moving from lane unsafely. He will be in town court later. Dean, 21, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia at 2 a.m. Monday after a traffic stop on Jamestown’s west side. Police report finding Dean in possession of 2.2 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale with suspected drug residue on it and small clear plastic bags commonly used for packaging narcotics.
