JAMESTOWN POLICE - John L. Alvarez, 36, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree attempted robbery July 9 after officers were dispatched to the downtown area for a reported fight. Officers located a 19-year-old laying on the ground who said he was jumped by an unknown male. Officers say they located John Lopez Alvarez nearby. Alvarez allegedly was punching and kicking the victim while he was on the ground and stated he was going to take the victim’s property until a passerby yelled out and deterred Alvarez. Alvarez was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned. ...

JAMESTOWN POLICE - Sarah E. Johnson of Jamestown was charged with first-degree criminal contempt due to a prior conviction at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop near the Foote Avenue plaza. According to a police report, officers pulled a vehicle over near Foote and Cole avenues for a traffic infraction. Johnson was allegedly in a vehicle with a protected party of a Stay Away Order of Protection issued by Jamestown City Court. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — MAYVILLE — At around 3:34 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop. Through an investigation it was discovered that Bridget G. Putnum, 33, of Pittsburgh was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Larson, 40 , of Celoron, was charged with petit larceny on June 10 at 12:30 p.m. Ellicott Town Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Target, located at 975 Fairmount Ave., where Larson allegedly took merchandise and left the store without paying for the items. Teen charged with rape FREWSBURG – A Jamestown teenager has been charged with rape. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, in early June 2025 the office’s Criminal Investigation Division took an alleged sex offense complaint. Through investigation of this complaint it was determined that 19 year old Hunter Wilburn engaged in sexual intercourse with another person without their consent.
