JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
Marcus E. Merced, 19, of Jamestown, was charged Dec. 22 fourth-degree criminal mischief. According to police, at about 12:35 p.m. officers were flagged down, and informed of a domestic dispute at a Northside residence. Upon speaking with the victim, police said, officers determined that Merced allegedly had intentionally damaged the victim’s cellphone. Merced was placed into custody, and taken to Jamestown City Jail, and later released. He will be in Jamestown City Court later.
JAMESTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT
Three dogs were rescued from a first-floor window as Jamestown Fire Department officials are still investigating the cause of a fire that broke out Dec. 19 at 11 English St. According to JFD officials, at about 2:25 p.m., crews reported heavy fire venting from both sides of the residence. Officials added that crews entered through the front door and began extinguishing the blaze. JFD crews worked for about 30 minutes before the fire was brought under control. Once the blaze was under control, officials said, crews began opening up walls and celinings to check for hotspots. Two fire investigators remained on scene once the fire was extinguished. At about 6:30 p.m. crews returned from the scene.
