JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Joseph A. McWilson, 33, of Jamestown, was charged with third-degree burglary, petit larceny and obstructing governmental administration. Officers responded at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday to a reported larceny of mail. McWilson was located in the area of West Third and Washington streets. After refusing several commands to stop, McWilson was taken into custody and allegedly found with mail that did not belong to him. An investigation found that McWilson allegedly entered a building and took the mail without permission. He was held pending arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ SILVER CREEK — Donna E. Layman, 50, of Irving, was charged with petit larceny. Deputies were called at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday to a reported shoplifting at a Route 5 business in Silver Creek. An employee said a person inside the store attempted to take items and conceal them in a purse. An investigation found that Layman had items in her purse that she didn’t pay for after leaving the business. Layman is scheduled to appear in court later.

¯ KENNEDY — An 18-year-old Kennedy man was charged with sexual misconduct. Deputies on Jan. 25 began an investigation into a suspicious situation. It was found that an 18-year-old allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a juvenile. The 18-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday and is scheduled to appear in Poland Town Court later.
