CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ DUNKIRK — Alan D. Wasserman-Vega, 18, of Dunkirk was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies stopped a vehicle Saturday at 4:56 a.m. on Doughty Street in Dunkirk for a traffic violation. The vehicle did not stop, and a short pursuit took place through the city. The pursuit ended at a local business where Wasserman-Vega allegedly attempted to flee on foot. Wasserman-Vega was eventually taken into custody, where he was found with two hundguns along with a quantity of cocaine. Wasserman-Vega was arraigned on the charges and remanded to jail.

¯ PANAMA — Darian A. Leech, 22, and Benjamin A. Troyer, 19, both of Sherman were each charged with fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies stopped a vehicle Friday at 6:27 p.m. on East Main Street in Panama for a traffic violation. During a search deputies found about 2 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug packaging material and several scales. The pair was taken into custody and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail without bail.

¯ FORESTVILLE — Trevor R. Kennedy, 20, of Forestville was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Deputies responded Sunday to a reported altercation in Forestville. It is alleged that Kennedy got into an altercation with several people at the home, resulting in damage to property and unwanted contact by Kennedy to others in the home. Kennedy was remanded to jail on pre-arraignment bail and is scheduled to appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.

¯ CHAUTAUQUA — Allison L. Syper, 24, of Mayville was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to sign turn. Deputies stopped a vehicle Dec. 29 at 2:53 a.m. for a traffic violation on Mill Street in Chautauqua. Syper was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and a quantity of methamphetamine. She was released with tickets to appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.

¯ KIANTONE — Sarah E. Lundsten, 37, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and speed in zone. Deputies stopped a vehicle Sunday at 12:30 a.m. for a traffic violation on Route 62 in Kiantone. Lundsten was allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia, hypodermic needles and a quantity of methamphetamine. She was released to appear in Kiantone Town Court at a later date.

¯ SHERIDAN — Carrie A. Babcock, 40, of Cassadaga was charged with backing unsafely, driving while intoxicated and DWI per se. Deputies responded Sunday at 4:41 a.m. to Route 39 for a report of a vehicle in a ditch. Babcock was found a short distance from the scene. Through an investigation, Babcock was found to be intoxicated. She is scheduled to appear in Sheridan Town Court to answer the charges.
