Washington Middle School’s drama club will present The Addams Family Young@Part, a youth presentation of the beloved musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 159 Buffalo St.
“I wanted to choose a show that would showcase our students at Washington Middle School,” said Marie Karbacka, who directs the production. “This young@part production of The Addams Family gives so many students a solo opportunity. We have a total of ten leads and an additional six soloists featured in this show. It is incredible to watch all of these students collaborate on this production.”
Based on the television series and movie franchise, the production, specifically tailored to middle schoolers, tells the story of Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, who has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family whom her parents have never met. She confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
The Addams Family Young@Part is presented through a special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
Tickets for the production are $5 and can be purchased at the door or by calling 716-483-4413, ext 4403.
