CLYMER — Work has restarted in recent weeks on the installation of the town of Clymer’s new water system, and where the project currently stands was discussed during the town board’s May meeting.

Areas of the town such as by Knowlton Road towards the trailer park are currently being worked on, and the contractors will return closer to downtown and head west at the intersection after the Tulip Festival. Highway Superintendent Scott Trisket said everything that has been put in so far has been tested and passed. Three people have also called him wanting to join the town’s water system.

Cleaning up yards after installation has also been happening.

“They have done some clean up, very nicely over the last few days,” Trisket said. “They’ve been cleaning up yards and stuff, which makes people a little more happy.”

Town Supervisor Brian Willink said the town is very happy with the contractors that have been doing the water project for them. He said they are fully aware of the Tulip Festival and school schedules, and have gone above and beyond.

“As of last week, they’re still on schedule,” Willink said. “They think they will get this thing done by the end of the fall. But, people just need to continue to have some patience, especially with the restoration work as they come back through.”

Another set of digging is still going to have to take place at everyone’s place, Willink said, so they did not want to fix it, dig it up, and then come back and fix it again. Work on the new water tank is happening as well, which will be blue and 24 feet taller than what it is now, with a smaller diameter. The base of the tank is being formed right now, and Trisket said they have to pour it and wait for two weeks to let it set before starting to build on it.

Starting at $3.50/week.
