A former car dealership in Westfield has been sold.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales and recently looked at the sales from Jan. 17-31.

During this time period, Darrell and Daniel DeHaven sold 7505 E. Main Road, town of Westfield to Westfield Maid Cooperative, Inc. of Portland for $350,000. This is the former DeHaven’s Westfield Dodge City motor vehicle dealership.

According to Westfield Maid Cooperative’s website, it is “one of the oldest concord grape marketing cooperatives headquartered in the Lake Erie grape growing region.” This farmer-owned organization was founded in 1935 as a fruit and vegetable processing cooperative.

In 1946, the cooperative assumed its present name and refocused its mission exclusively to concord grape marketing. Today the organization consists of over 70 family owned farms with a total average annual production of more than 10,000 tons of high quality concord grapes.

The co-op has told county officials they want to turn that dealership into a factory that would make 4 ounce juice pouches for schools, as well as food banks. They are in the process of getting their funding in place before setting a date for construction. The project is expected to cost $4.2 million.

During this time period, there were seven sales that topped $250,000 — two in the town of Ellery, two in the town of Chautauqua (one of which was in Chautauqua Institution), and one sale each in the towns of Pomfret, Westfield, and Busti (village of Lakewood). Excluding the transaction previously mentioned, the remaining six top sales were as follows:

¯ Seven parcels on Chautauqua Road, Pomfret were sold for $625,000. The parcels border Chautauqua, Kelly Hill and Harmon Hill roads.

¯ 26 Marina Drive, Crosswinds subdivision, Ellery sold for $525,000.

¯ 4408 Lakeside Drive, Ellery sold for $420,000.

¯ 41 Hurst Ave., Chautauqua Institution sold for $400,000.

¯ 301 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood sold for $301,000.

¯ 5455 Tinkertown Road, Chautauqua town sold for $255,000.

Overall, from Jan. 17-31, there were 185 transactions, with 107 of the sales more than $1.
