Mary Ann and Paul Perruzi were dressed to impress Thursday for a lunch cruise aboard the Chautauqua Belle.

The pair from Massachusetts attended the event in elaborate costumes to celebrate Lucille Ball’s legacy. The cruise, taking place during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, was organized in honor of Ball’s Jamestown heritage.

Participants in Thursday’s event were encouraged to dress up as Ball, and a grand prize award was presented to the “best dressed Lucy.”

The lunch cruise provided an opportunity for guests to enjoy a two-hour tour of Jamestown and Celoron from the historic Chautauqua Belle. The tour also presented the history of the region that Ball grew up in.

Guests on the Chautauqua Belle were served a lunch inspired by the I Love Lucy “Job Switching” episode, which included chicken, rice, roasted veggies and a chocolate dessert.

Similar cruises on the river are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 and 3:30 p.m. today; 1 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival runs through Sunday, with over 50 events to celebrate the “Queen of Comedy.”

Journey Gunderson, director of the National Comedy Center, has described this year’s festival as “one of the best lineups in history.”
