City Man Charged In March Shooting Death
A Jamestown man is being held in Cattaraugus County Jail on murder and weapons possession charges for his role in the March shooting death of a city man that occurred in Olean.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that 50-year-old Theodore E. Coffie had been taken into custody on a Superior Court warrant. He is facing charges of second-degree murder, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.
According to the Olean Times Herald, Coffie’s arrest is the result of a lengthy investigation into the March 24 killing of 35-year-old Alexis Figueroa Torres in the 300 block of South Third Street in Olean.
Figueroa Torres, like Coffie, was a resident of Jamestown.
The Olean Times Herald said Coffie has been indicted on the murder and weapons charges and is awaiting a Dec. 6 hearing in Cattaraugus County Court. He is currently in jail on $250,000 cash bail.
A native of Puerto Rico, Figueroa Torres was employed as a driver for American Transport in Buffalo. According to his obituary, he had nine children.
