Dunkirk DPW Back In Business

It is business as usual for the city of Dunkirk’s Department of Public Works.

City Mayor Wilfred Rosas said Wednesday afternoon the department was reopened on Tuesday following a COVID-19 concern involving an employee. The department was closed suddenly last week when an employee, who was supposed to be in quarantine, was working closely with others. That employee has since tested negative and a thorough clean was done at the department.

The closing of the DPW meant there was no recycling or garbage pick-up on Monday, but with the department reopening all is back on schedule and the Lucas Street facility has reopened.

The employee in question is now in the midst of a two-week quarantine.
