A former auto repair shop in Jamestown is scheduled to be demolished today after the building’s roof collapsed.

Crystal Surdyk, acting director of the Jamestown Department of Development said the former Quality Rebuilders at 823 Clinton St. should be coming down today following Saturday’s collapse.

The roof is believed to have come down on the second and first floors, sending bricks into the street and around the property.

Members of the Jamestown Fire Department were called to the scene Saturday around 4:15 p.m. Firefighters closed Clinton Street, from West Eighth Street to Isabella Avenue, to traffic while debris was cleared from the road.

The Department of Development was notified of the collapse. Surdyk said the decision was made to demolish the building.
