Area artists can put their talents to use by participating in a contest to design the logo for this year’s Laurel Memorial Run and Walk. The person who designs the winning entry will receive a $50 gift card to a business of their choosing. Laurel Run was started in 1997 by Wayne and Elaine Hotelling of Silver Creek. The annual event is named in honor of their oldest daughter. Trustees made a “hasty decision” last week to fire Fredonia Department of Public Works Director David Bird, Trustee Paul Wandel said Monday. Wandel offered a strident defense of Bird at a Fredonia Board of Trustees workshop. Wandel was the only “no” vote when three trustees voted last week to fire Bird. A Warren man has been taken to the Warren County Prison on $500,000 bail after allegedly stabbing another person in the neck during a dispute early Tuesday morning. Nathan A.
