MAYVILLE — At 7:02 p.m. Tuesday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault at the Mayville Library, 92 South Erie Street.

Through an investigation it was determined that Xavier Guadarrama did assault an employee of the library with a knife. Guadarrama fled the scene prior to the arrival of responding deputies. After a brief search of the area, Guadarrama was located and taken into custody.

Guadarrama was charged with first-degree attempted assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. Guadarrama was also found to be wanted on an outstanding probation warrant. Guadarrama was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.
