FREWSBURG – After a long search, a new superintendent has been appointed to lead the Frewsburg Central School District.
At a special meeting Wednesday the school board named Kerri Levine to serve as the next district superintendent.
Board President Mike LeBaron said her contract of employment is from July 1 to June 30, 2029.
“I’m excited to get started,” Levine said after the meeting. “We had a wonderful process. It started with meeting students and staff and community members in every step of the way, I felt that it was just a great community to be part of.”
According to BOCES, in a prepared statement, Levine currently serves as Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Avon Central School District, and brings more than two decades of experience in education, including leadership roles in pupil personnel services, special education, instructional technology, curriculum, student support services and building administration.
“I want to sincerely thank the Board of Education, the hiring committee, staff, students, families, and community members for the warm welcome they have provided me. Throughout the interview process, I was deeply impressed by the pride, sense of belonging, student experiences, and strong community connections that make Frewsburg such a special place,” Levine added.
Levine will replace Interim Superintendent Lynda Quick who LeBaron said has played an important role in preparing the district for its next leader.
“The board is most interested in getting decisions made correctly,” LeBaron said in a prepared statement. “At times, it requires patience, but the end result is most important. Lynda Quick has done an outstanding job of preparing the district for the incoming superintendent. Her presence is exactly what the district needed.”
Levine has served as Director of Pupil Personnel Services at Avon CSD since 2021, where she has helped lead districtwide strategic planning, student support services, policy development, mental health initiatives, recruitment, and family engagement. Her prior experience includes administrative roles in the Newark Central School District and several instructional and leadership positions in the Marion Central School District.
Levine completed the University of Rochester Superintendent Development Program and holds School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications. She also holds a master’s degree in Literacy Education and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a focus in elementary and special education from Nazareth College.
Levine added that her first priority will be to listen and build relationships throughout the district and community.
LeBaron said rebuilding trust will be an important focus as the district moves forward.
“The primary goal of the new superintendent is to build back the trust within the district,” he said. “The school and community have been through many difficult challenges this past year, and Mrs. Levine is the one to lead the way back to greatness.”
