Gunshots exchanged between vehicles in Jamestown led to the arrests of three Buffalo men Tuesday.

No injuries were reported in the shootings, which occurred in the area of West Sixth and Jefferson streets. Officers learned that people in separate vehicles exchanged gunfire before driving off in different directions.

One of the vehicles believed to be involved was later located on Summit Avenue with a “bullet hole in its hood,” the Jamestown Police Department said Tuesday evening in a news release.

Around 3 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Pershing Avenue at Baker Street. A passenger in the vehicle — later identified as 21-year-old Joel Coleman — fled on foot while three others remained on scene.

Two loaded pistols were found, and 23-year-old Allen Jackson and 24-year-old Arkeil Gaskin were taken into custody on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The pair was being held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Hours later, a tip from a citizen led to the discovery of a third weapon. Using a New York State Police K-9 unit, Coleman was tracked to a Summit Avenue residence where he was found hiding in a garage.

Coleman is facing charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance “as he was found to also possess, cash, and suspected cocaine and heroin / fentanyl,” JPD said.

Two of the men, Coleman and Jackson, were passengers in a vehicle stopped on Institute Street in February and later arrested when loaded weapons were recovered. They were facing charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon from the February incident.
