City Woman Charged After ‘Large Sum Of Money’ Taken From Businesses
A Jamestown woman is facing a host of charges after a “large sum of money” was taken from the accounts of two businesses.
Police announced the charges Tuesday against 57-year-old Donna L. Spencer after an investigation into a forgery case that began in 2018.
“Upon completing the investigation, it was found that a large sum of money was taken from two business accounts and one personal account over time from forged documents,” the Ellicott Police Department announced in a news release.
Police said Spencer allegedly forged numerous checks in varying amounts from 2018 to 2019. She was charged with petit larceny, six counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, nine counts of third-degree grand larceny and 16 counts of second-degree forgery. She is scheduled to appear in Ellicott Town Court later.
Police did not identify how much was taken, or from which businesses and personal accounts.
