(UPDATE: 2:45 PM) Body Of Woman Recovered From Vehicle Found In Pond
PANAMA — The body of a 56-year-old woman was pulled from a vehicle that reportedly drove into a pond late Saturday.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone confirmed Sunday that the woman was recovered from the water near a property on Hoag Road in the town of Harmony.
Panama firefighters and Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies were called around 11:30 p.m. after tire tracks were seen leading to the pond.
Members of the county Water Emergency Team responded, and a search took place into the early hours of Sunday.
A county coroner was later called after the vehicle and body were discovered. The woman was not identified by name in a press release issued Sunday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation, Quattrone said.
More information will be released when it becomes available.
